What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive energy healing practice that works with the body's natural energy systems to promote deep rest and restoration. During a session, you lie fully clothed on a treatment table while the practitioner places hands gently on or just above specific areas of the body, focusing on the main energy centres. There is no massage and no physical pressure whatsoever.

Most people feel a deep sense of calm during a session. Some notice warmth, a gentle tingling, or simply drift into a light, peaceful sleep. Reiki does not require any particular spiritual belief — many clients are entirely sceptical beforehand and simply experience it as a deeply restorative relaxation therapy that leaves them feeling calmer, lighter, and more balanced.

Reiki for Stress Relief

One of the most immediate and consistent effects of Reiki is a profound reduction in stress. By bringing the body into a deeply relaxed parasympathetic state, Reiki supports the nervous system in releasing accumulated tension and stress. Regular sessions can help build resilience and a greater sense of ease in daily life.

Reiki as Complementary Therapy

Within my practice, Reiki is available as a standalone treatment or as a calming complement to EFT Tapping and RTT Hypnotherapy. A calmer nervous system makes all other therapeutic work more accessible — and for many clients, Reiki offers a gentle, welcoming first step into therapeutic support.

Reiki for Children

Because it is so gentle and requires nothing from the recipient but a willingness to rest, Reiki is particularly well-suited to children — especially those who are anxious or not yet ready for talking-based approaches. It is safe and appropriate for all ages, and many children find it deeply soothing. Parents of younger children are always welcome to be present during a session.

What to Expect

A Reiki session lasts one hour. You arrive, settle onto the treatment table fully clothed, and simply allow yourself to rest. There is nothing you need to do or say. Afterwards, most people feel deeply relaxed, peaceful, and grounded — and many notice an improved sense of clarity and emotional ease in the days that follow.
